Pregnancy Massage
Today I was lucky enough to meet Kathy Flippin owner of Dynamic Touch Massage. She educated me on the importance and benefits of massage during pregnancy. Her office in Costa Mesa was very clean, calm and professional. Kathy has a bright and cheerful personality and gives her clients the attention they deserve. A healthy pregnancy needs the healing hands of a pregnancy massage professionals to relieve tension, heal and relax tight muscles. Fitness4Baby's pregnancy exercise program and Dynamic Touch's pregnancy massage are providing the women of Orange County the services and attention they deserve.
Kathy, thank you for all you do.
Sincerly,
Eric Johannsen

Beating the "baby blues."
My Fitness4Baby client, who delivered a very handsome baby boy 6 weeks ago, brought up an interesting topic this week. She called it "baby blues." Her feelings were not remotely close to depression, but related to the dramatic change in lifestyle. She had been working and dedicated to her pregnant exercise program. After her C-section she felt strong and ready for motherhood. Many people at the hospital were amazed at her strength and endurance. She attributes much of that to her pregnancy exercise routine.
During the first 4 weeks after delivery she said she had a case of the "baby blues." Her husband confirmed that. She emphasized the importance of her regular exercise, the way her personal training sessions made her feel and the need for the time to work on herself. All this was suddenly missing.
Talking to her confirmed the importance of continuing support immediately after delivery, C-section or not. Taking time out of your day to focus on yourself, engaging in light physical activity and having your trainer there brings back familiar feelings and "baby blues" fighting hormones.
The Fitness4Baby pregnancy exercise program will include ongoing support before, throughout and AFTER pregnancy.
Click here to view an article from WebMD discussing several topics related to the postpartum period. They do not reference exercise, however we all know regular exercise is essential for optimal health and pregnancy health.

Ways to Avoid Gestational Diabetes
One of the most common complications during pregnancy is Gestational Diabetes. The good news is it can be controlled and even avoided with proper diet and exercise. Specifically, resistance training increases your bodies Insulin Sensitivity thereby allowing glucose (blood sugar) to enter your cells and then be used for energy. As well, eating quality foods, combining your proteins carbs and fats, and frequent small meals, will help regulate your blood sugar levels.
Lifestyle changes are sometimes difficult and develop slowly. Do not wait until the last minute to make the right changes which will improve your life as well as the life of your baby.
